Aaron and Debbie Smart

"We believe God has specifically called us to serve Him in Lesotho. Although we don't fully understand it or know what will happen to us along the way, we know He walks before us and our commitment to the task ahead is unwavering."
Aaron and Debbie SmartAaron first discovered the truth about God as a young adult while Debbie grew up in a Christian family. From a New Zealand Maori heritage, Aaron became a Youth worker in a multi-cultural area. Debbie was a History/English teacher with a degree focussed on Aboriginal studies.
Inter-cultural mission became a key interest for both, but for Aaron, Lesotho seemed to have a special pull that could only have come from God. After they married and studied at the Worldview Centre for Intercultural Studies (Tasmania), the revelation that Lesotho was the place for them became clear to Debbie also. This was confirmed during four months in Lesotho where, with their two children aged 1 and 3, the Smarts were involved in ministry to Babies affected by HIV/AIDS.  The Smarts returned to Lesotho in 2006 and are now the team leaders of a rapidly growing team.

Aaron and Debbie believe that the local church - existing as a vital community of God - can provide holistic solutions to the nation's challenges.
