Pioneers Core Values
Passion for God
Our passion is to glorify God throughout the nations of the world, through obedience to His word, the Bible, and by living and proclaiming the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. We believe that a fundamental act of worship for every single Christian is to participate actively, in some way, in the Great Commission.
Unreached People Groups
Our primary goal is to reach and impact people groups that, to this point, have had the least opportunity to hear the message of Christ. This is not to say that we only live and work in remote areas. In fact, many of our teams are in sophisticated and highly developed regions of the world. However, our priority is those areas, cultures, and people groups where the gospel has yet to be effectively proclaimed.
We Work in Teams
Pioneers is a team-driven movement. Our entire ethos and structure rests on the strength, growth, creativity, diversity and cohesiveness of our teams. It is the teams (comprised of people from a range of backgrounds and cultures) which are free to mobilize new people, set strategic goals and even determine their own terms of service, support levels, location and strategy. Participatory Leadership
In Pioneers, we try to be relationally oriented, rather than policy driven. Consequently, we have a largely decentralised leadership structure, with an interactive approach to leadership and decision making. This is true at all levels within the entire organisation. This greatly enhances dialogue, interaction, participation and ownership of the decision making process. On a Pioneers team, every person has a say!
An Ethos of Grace
We see ourselves as a family! And, therefore, we seek to relate to one another in an ethos of grace. We are committed to nurturing an atmosphere of mutual acceptance, open communication, and trust, which encourages each person to attain their full potential in Christ. This "ethos of grace" touches all that we do, say, and seek to accomplish. To that end, we also commit ourselves to care for, and actively encourage, friends, supporters, family members and home churches to feel a part of the Pioneers family.
Church Planting Movements
Because Pioneers teams are seeking to initiate church planting movements in partnership with local churches, we have a long-haul commitment. To us, church planting is not simply about grass roots evangelism, but long-term commitment to the process of discipleship. To that end, our teams are involved in a huge variety of activities aimed at empowering and equipping local believers to become disciple-makers, and local churches to embrace the task of world mission.
Local Church Partnership
Pioneers is committed to the local church and believes that it is central to God's mission thrust. We seek to establish partnerships not only with sending churches, but where possible, with local Christians in indigenous churches, and even other mission agencies. We do not aim to plant 'mission' churches under our own 'umbrella'.
Creativity and Innovation
In Pioneers, men and women are encouraged to utilize whatever means will be effective in communicating the gospel. Creative ideas, innovative strategies, and unique concepts are being developed and utilized every day by Pioneers teams, and individuals, around the world. Innovation and openness to new ideas lie at the core of all that we are and do.
We Celebrate Individuality
In Pioneers, individuals are given a great deal of responsibility. We do not seek to direct people into roles or geographical areas of need within our own organisation. If no Pioneers teams are located where you feel called to go, or doing what you feel called to do, then we see that as an opportunity to expand. And although we love to assist in helping people find their 'fit', you will not be asked to go somewhere or become involved in a ministry/project that you do not equally feel is God's clear and specific leading in your life. No one 'profile' is preferred over another, and no particular set of skills, spiritual gifts or experiences is seen as more valuable than any other.
